Kelly Osbourne of The Osbournes fame which portrayed the daily life of her family which starred her parents, herself and her siblings which went on to win the 2002 Emmy Award for Outstanding Reality Program. She is also a singer, dancer, model and fashion designer. She was the presenter on the E!’s Fashion Police show. . She has also appeared on Dancing with the Stars in which she and her professional dance partner Louis van Amstel took third place. She was the voice of Hildy Gloom in the Disney XD animated series The 7D. She was also a judge on both Australia’s Got Talent and Project Runway Junior.

Kelly created quite the frenzy when she posted a picture of slim self on Instagram in the month of August 2020. She looked super dapper in her new look and even mentioned in one of the replies to the comment that she had lost a massive 85 pounds! That caused quite the stir leaving the fans and media with several questions regarding her sudden drop in weight.

Her weight loss journey goes way back to 2009 when she appeared on the Dancing With The Stars. Kelly had put on a few pounds due to her unhealthy eating habits as a result of constant media criticism, regarding which Kelly states, “I replaced the drugs with food and just got fatter and fatter… I’m an emotional eater. When I get upset, my diet goes out the window.” She says her back then all she had were pizza, fries and feeling exhausted all the time due to all the fatty foods she was consuming at that time. To help he with her unhealthy eating habit her dance partner Louis van Amstel introduced her to concept of high-protein, low-carb diets and their positive influence on the weight loss journey. At that time she had lost close to 40 pounds.

Kelly Osbourne’s Diet

 

The Mirror reports that her relationship with vegan chef Matthew Mosshart in 2012 ended up pushing her to loosely follow a plant-based diet that she’s mostly stuck to since then. It has been rumoured that Kelly’s diet has since been only vegan and also that she follows intermittent fasting. Intermittent fasting is nothing but having fasting periods of about 14-16 hours and eating only protein and fat rich food while cutting down on carbs so that the body’s fat reserves are used up and hence leading to shedding of excess fat.

Talking about her diet and benefits of clean eating , she told Huffington Post Australia“Once I learned how to work out right and eat right, it’s one of those things that you just have to commit to a life change rather than being on a diet,”. “Because a diet doesn’t work. You lose weight and you stop it and it will all come back. So you just have to take baby steps, commit to something and stay true to it.”

Kelly has been struggling with addiction since she was only 13 years ols, her celebrity, travelling lifestyle and constantly being under the scrutiny of cameras throughout her teenage life took a toll on her mental health which made her turn towards booze and drugs early on in life. She decided that in order to get her body healthy she had to get her mind healthy. And that she did, she had been sober for a year around 2018 and had mentioned the same through social media. To mark her 2.5 years of sobriety she posted a picture on her Instagram account captioned “With almost 2 1/2 years of sobriety under my belt, I still struggle with confrontation (which was NEVER a problem when I was using). It’s time to put myself first, stop taking on other people’s sh*t, and be the badass sober woman I was born to be.” She has always been public about her sobriety and how it was important to her weight loss and health in general.

In 2009 after her stint on Dancing With The Stars she explored many fitness routines such as circuit training, cardio, yoga, Pilates and mixed them according to what her body was comfortable with.

Kelly later took up on HIIT-High Intensity Interval Training a type of training which involves short burst of intense training followed by intervals of break. Kelly’s personal trainer Lacey Stone recently detailed the fitness routine that she works through with clients at her Los Angeles-based THE WALL Fitness: “Some of my favorite workout moves have been around forever because they work,” Stone told Hollywood Life in February. Stone’s go-to workout involves sequences of squats, deadlifts, push-ups, bicep curl shoulder presses, and tricep dips, among other moves. “I’d recommend you do a circuit like this 2 to 3 times per week and spin class or any sort of cardio class 2-3/week.”

In 2012,after Kelly’s swimsuit styled magazine spread in Cosmopolitan Body was published she gave an interview her eight loss wasn’t what made her glow but rather her coming to lover herself that made her happier. She said learning to love one’s self i is the stepping stone to a healthier, happier life. She adds to it,“Losing weight was just one benefit of putting the hard work in and sorting myself out on the inside first through therapy. That was one of the scariest times of my life. I swear I’ve never felt more naked, because I had to actually be me and couldn’t mask it.”

On her 36th birthday Kelly Osburne’s rocked a form-fitting black cut-out dress which highlighted her fit and slim body. On the Hollywood Raw podcast Kelly opened up about the entire process of her getting a gastric sleeve surgery “I did it, I’m proud of it…. I did the gastric sleeve. All it does is change the shape of your stomach. I got that almost two years ago. I will never ever lie about it ever. It is the best thing I have ever done.” Kelly says she also went to therapy for a year to tackle her emotional eating tendencies before going in for surgery. “

She also adopted healthy eating and exercise habits. “The kind of surgery I had… if you don’t work out and you don’t eat right, you gain weight. All it does is move you in the right direction,” Kelly added. “It doesn’t solve all your problems. It’s not a quick fix. This has been two years of me working on this. Figuring out if I wanted to be in this industry, figuring out if I was even capable of even losing this weight,” she said. “I did, and I figured out I wanted to keep going. I didn’t do this for anyone. It was a long process, and now I’m here and everybody is noticing.”

Years of being under the media’s watch, the constant pressure to look perfect on and off- screen is a major hurdle every celebrity who set out early on in life into the industry has had to face. Kelly Osburne was no exception and she fought her demons, got into shape for the sake of her own self and owned it like a true star!
